IUPUI is Indiana's premier urban research university. The campus enrolls more than 30,000 students in 21 schools and academic units.
Two ways to maximize the impact of your gift
IUPUI has committed to providing additional dollars to two special gift opportunities: RISE scholarships and Endowed Faculty Chairs.
RISE Scholarships
The RISE to the IUPUI Challenge initiative encourages undergraduates to include at least two of the four RISE experiences—research, international, service learning, and experiential learning—into their degree programs. Gifts to the RISE initiative will preserve and strengthen this hallmark of the IUPUI undergraduate experience.
In conjunction with the IUPUI IMPACT Campaign, the campus will provide a fixed match of $500 per year, creating approximately $1,500 in total annual support for each scholarship. All fixed matches are in perpetuity.
RISE scholarships will be eligible for the fixed match program if funded either by outright gifts or pledges (made July 1, 2010 to June 30, 2013) to be paid over five years. Deferred gifts will not qualify. RISE scholarships may be endowed within any IUPUI school offering an undergraduate degree. The fixed match will take effect when a full year of spendable income has been generated by the endowment. Fixed matches are subject to available budgeted funds.
Endowed Faculty Chairs
Faculty endowments do more than fund salaries. They also provide support for libraries, laboratories, and technology resources, help recruit and retain distinguished faculty members, and make the campus more appealing to talented students in undergraduate, graduate, and professional school programs.
IUPUI has created an opportunity for prospective donors to increase the number of endowed chairs on the campus. As an incentive for prospective IUPUI IMPACT Campaign donors interested in making gifts to endow new faculty chairs, the campus and the beneficiary unit will each provide a fixed match for each newly endowed chair that will increase the amount of initial support made available by the donor.
Faculty chairs may be endowed with a minimum $1.5 million gift. Schools may stipulate that certain endowed chairs require amounts greater than $1.5 million. Each gift will generate approximately $75,000 annually for a single endowed chair.
In addition, the campus and the beneficiary school each will provide a fixed match of $37,500 for a total of $75,000 each year. This will create approximately $150,000 in total annual support for each chair. All fixed matches are in perpetuity.
Endowed chairs will be eligible for the fixed match program if funded either by outright gifts, pledges (made July 1, 2010 to June 30, 2013) to be completed over no more than five years, or irrevocable life-income deferred gifts.
Faculty chairs may be endowed within any IUPUI school offering an undergraduate, graduate, or professional degree. The fixed match will take effect when the gift total of the endowment reaches $1.5 million. Fixed matches are subject to available budgeted funds.
